1. Croatian Pharmacy day, 29th October

Croatian Pharmaceutical Society and the Croatian Chamber of Pharmacists, under the auspices of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Croatia are organising, for the eighth consecutive year, Croatian Pharmacy Day on the date which is symbolic by it being the first time when the pharmacy was mentioned on the Croatian territory in Trogir, 29 October 1271.

The entire project is celebrating Croatian Pharmacy days and is designed to promote pharmacology and the pharmacy profession in the public and the pharmacy as a place where the public can get, along with the issue of drugs and other health products, expert advice on proper and rational use of drugs, preserving health, preventing disease and improving quality of life. At the same time, we want to highlight the value of the pharmacy profession in the health system, improve the attitude of the media and the public about our profession, emphasise competence and training of pharmacists and point to the contribution of pharmacists in patient treatment, health care and responsible behavior of people towards their health .
This year the aim of Croatian Pharmacy Day is safety and risk of using OTC – medicines and other non-prescription products during pregnancy and lactation ( project SUTRA ), to promote rational and responsible self-medication, and to prevent unwanted adverse events and negative clinical outcomes (consequently resulted from irrational, uneducated and inappropriate self-medication).

Project SUTRA also includes educational topics about rational use of food supplements (vitamins, minerals) and other alternative medicinal preparations (herbal medicines, aromatherapy, homeopathy, dermocosmetics …) during pregnancy and lactation, as well as raising awareness of the potential risks / benefits of self-healing in the most vulnerable period of life.
