As of January 1, 2024, there are 74 219 pharmacists registered with the Order (+0,6 % compared to January 1, 2023). This figure has increased by 1,8 % over the past ten years. The average age of pharmacists has remained stable over 10 years, going from 46,6 years in 2013 to 46,5 years in 2023. As a consequence of longer careers, the number of pharmacists aged 60 and over has increased from 12 % in 2013 to 19 % in 2023. During the same period, the proportion of those under 35 years old stands at 23 %, which is 1 percentage point more than in 2013 (22 %). Similarly, those under 50 represent 60 % in 2023, compared to 56 % in 2013. Thus, over ten years, there has been a flattening of the age curve from the age of 40 and an extension of careers. The highest average ages are found among medical biology pharmacists (49,5 years) and pharmacy owners (49,2 years). Pharmacists are youngest in sections B and D (42,1 years and 44,6 years, respectively). The population of pharmacists is predominantly female (68 %), especially in sec tions D and H ( 79 % and 74 % , respectively). It is worth noting that the proportion of women in these sections has decreased by 3 and 2 percentage points, respectively, between 2013 and 2023, going from 82 % to 79 % for section D and from 76 % to 74 % for section H. In comparison, the highest proportion of men is found among wholesale distribution pharmacists (46 %) and pharmacy owners (44 %).
