Saxony, Germany – ADEXA and the Saxon Pharmacists’ Association (SAV) have reached a new collective agreement that will bring a flat-rate salary increase of €160 per month for all job profiles and salary groups in Saxon pharmacies, effective July 1, 2025. The agreement applies to full-time employees (40 hours per week) and will remain valid for 18 months, until December 31, 2026.

Improved Salaries Across the Board

Tanja Kratt, member of the ADEXA Federal Board and head of the collective bargaining committee, emphasized the importance of this development:
“We are pleased to finally be able to offer our members in Saxony a new collective agreement. Positive political signals have likely contributed to advancing the negotiation process.”

Under the new agreement, gross monthly salaries (full-time) will be as follows:

  • Licensed Pharmacists
    • 1st–2nd pay grade, 1st year of training: €4,095
    • From 6th year of employment: €4,883
  • Pharmaceutical Technical Assistants (PTA)
    • Starting salary: €2,601
    • From 6th year of employment: €3,142
  • Pharmaceutical Commercial Assistants (PKA)
    • Starting salary: €2,338
    • From 6th year of employment: €2,771

Branch managers will also receive proportional salary adjustments.

Boost in Training Allowances

To strengthen pharmacy education and attract young professionals, training allowances in Saxony have been aligned with nationwide collective agreement standards:

  • Pharmaceutical Interns (PhiP): €1,100/month
  • PTA Trainees: €850/month
  • PKA Trainees:
    • 1st year: €850
    • 2nd year: €900
    • 3rd year: €950

"This is a crucial step to address the shortage of young talent," Kratt added.

On-Call Compensation and Future Outlook

On-call allowances for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians will be recalculated based on the new base salaries. While the agreement does not include a formal renegotiation clause, both parties have committed to ongoing monitoring—particularly in light of anticipated changes to pharmacy remuneration systems and the statutory minimum wage.

If the minimum wage increases to €15/hour in 2026, a broader revision of the salary structure may be necessary. From July 2025, the starting hourly wage for PKAs in Saxony will be €13.51.

Pharmacy professionals in Saxony will also continue to benefit from supplementary agreements on continuing education, supporting their long-term career development.
